When forecasting for next year, students and parents should keep in mind the following:
- All courses and programs offered are contingent upon adequate funding.
- All courses offered are dependent on enrollment. If an insufficient number of students request a course, it will not be taught.
- Courses are divided into two (2) types: required and elective. Required courses are those a student must pass to meet the state of Oregon and Hillsboro School District requirements for graduation. Elective courses are designed to build skills in areas of study that meet the student’s need for vocational and college admission, as well as the pursuit of individual interests.
- Student placement in English, math, science, second language, and social studies will be based on teacher guidance, current classroom work, past performance, test scores, and other criteria related to the student’s ability, potential and career goals.
- Not all courses are offered at every high school.
- If it is written on your forecasting sheet, make 100% sure you are willing to follow through with the class. Schedule corrections are rarely made.
